We Are The Good Guys- Or At Least The Daily Show Is ...

My parents were here in Florida this past week for a visit.  While my step-father has discovered something I have known for years - that Stephen Colbert (of "The Colbert Report") is a comedy deity of the highest proportion.  My step-father has not yet adopted my fervent love of Jon Stewart and "The Daily Show."  On Friday, my step-father asked why Jon Stewart's show is more highly rated and award-winning than "The Colbert Report."  I only had to point to the March 15 episode to explain why.

Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" didn't have a guest on their March 15, 2012 episode.  The lack of guest was in order to air a segment on correspondent John Oliver's trip to Gabon to highlight how the US' cut in funding to UNESCO per a 20+ year old law to foster Israel - Palestine communication is affecting vital programs.  The episode also focused on how Gabon - a West African country was the first to step up and pledge more money to offset the US cuts.  What other comedy show sends a cast member to GABON for a segment?  It was probably one of the best "Daily Show" episodes I have seen.

In honor of the "Daily Show" and John Oliver's report on Gabon, I include a link to my review of John Oliver's show here in Tampa, Florida.  The blog post is titled: "John Oliver: Tampa Apologizes."  Read and enjoy!
