Today is my Mother's birthday, so I thought I would write a blog post in her honor. My mother and step-father recently visited me here in Tampa for the first time in seven years. My step-father dropped my mother off in Tampa and left for a motorcycle trip. I wasn't sure what to do with my mother, but I managed to come up with a week's worth of fun activities. Unfortunately, one of the activities was going to Sarasota, Florida. Which normally is one of my favorite things to do. However on this particular trip, I managed to hit a deer on the drive back from Sarasota doing 70 mph on Highway 75. Here's a tip - when your parents come to visit after a 7 year absence of visiting Tampa, try not to kill any animals while they're visiting. It's not an activity that says "Hey, please come and visit more often!" Also try not to wreck your car. As if entertaining my mother wasn't stressful enough, killing an animal and my car was not what I needed! Make sure you have enough car insurance before any family member visits!
In the weeks to come, I'll be blogging about some of the things I did with my mother in Tampa Bay. In honor of my Mother's birthday, today's post is about one of the most favorite things my mother enjoyed while in Tampa Bay ... which is ...
The Mega Awesome Sunday Brunch Buffet at Marchand's Bar and Grill at the Historic Vinoy Resort and Golf Club in St. Petersburg, FL.
My mother is a very petite Chinese woman. But when she is confronted with an all you can eat brunch buffet, she takes it as a personal challenge. I have never seen someone eat as much as my mother at a high end brunch buffet. This was one of my mother's highlights of the trip. I think I may start entering her in competitive eating contests!
I love the variety of food that Marchand's offers for their Sunday Brunch Buffet - they had a seafood station, sushi station, paella station, carving station, eggs to order, cheese and fruit table and one gigantic dessert bar!
Here are some pictures from the gorge-a-thon at the Sunday Brunch at Marchand's.
The above picture is my plate at the Vinoy - beef tenderloin, salmon, crab claws, shrimp, roasted red potatoes, BACON, cheese, asparagus ... all fresh, all delicious.
The above picture is sushi from the sushi bar at the brunch buffet. My mother does not like spicy mayo and excessive sauces, so they made her sushi without the extra sauce.
The above picture is one of the three items you could order in addition to the brunch buffet. This is almond French toast. They also had shrimp and grits as an additional item that you can order at no extra cost.
The dessert bar at Marchand's Sunday Brunch Buffet is out of control! They had a deep fryer station where they made cinnamon sugar donut holes and get this - DEEP FRIED BROWNIES! Is Paula Deen running this dessert bar? Oh the deep fried goodness ...
More dessert lovelies ...
So whether you need to drown your sorrows in breakfast and lunch foods because you've just killed a deer and your convertible or if you need a great place to take out of town guests, check out the mega incredible high end brunch buffet at Marchand's Bar and Grill at the Historic Vinoy Resort in St. Petersburg!
