One of my favorite places in Tampa Bay for lunch is Wright's Gourmet House. They have fantastic sandwiches as well as a wide variety of cafe items for order through their catering. I have used Wright's for catering at several of my parties because their food is so tasty and because they deliver! (Win-win!)
But many Tampa folks love Wright's because of their desserts. They make AMAZING cakes, pies and fruit breads. They make giant cakes for sale whole or by the slice. They also sell cupcakes in the same cake flavors, but nothing beats a big old gargantuan slab of cake.
During the holiday time, Wright's makes a chocolate cake with peppermint frosting. I wish they had this cake all year-round, but some things are worth the wait.
If you're near Tampa Bay, make sure you schedule in a slice of peppermint chocolate cake (or a whole cake) as soon as possible!
Here's a picture of the slab I purchased to fill my holiday dessert status quo … sadly I couldn't wait to take a picture - I ate several bites before I paused for photographic evidence!
Another one of my favorite "seasonal desserts" is Village Inn's candy cane pie - check it out in my blog post here.
Run around the block a few times and then try both the peppermint chocolate cake and the candy cane pie. Your seasonal stomach will be very happy!
