My Cats Are Going To Freak

My latest adventures took me to Brazil - where I was in Hortolandia, Campinas and Rio De Janeiro.  When I was a young child, my biggest wish was that one day I would be able to see the world.  This trip was my first venture into South America and it has been a fabulous experience.  My inner child is very happy!

When I arrived in Rio, the stereo in my head started alternating between Barry Manilow's "Copacabana" and the song "The Girl from Ipanema."  Staying right on Avenida Atlantica across from Copacabana Beach was a true delight.

I spent Sunday afternoon walking along Ipanema Beach.  It was around 85 degrees and this is WINTER in Rio!  Yikes, I'd hate to be here during the 100+ degree summer!

After several miles, I decided hydration was much needed and I stopped at one of the beachfront mini bars.  Along most of Ipanema beach, you can get an entire coconut for 5 Brazilian Reais.  (Less than $2 USD)  I was quite happy slurping up coconut water from my freshly macheted coconut, when a young couple and their dog sat down at the table across from me.  

I noticed they bought 3 coconuts - one for him, one for her and one for ... yes, the dog!  A cutie named Gira.

All I could think was if my cats were here they would NOT be amused that this little dog gets its own coconut and gets to sit on a chair at the table.  I thought I had some spoiled animals, but Gira the dog is pretty darn lucky!

They say the Carioca (Rio citizens) lifestyle is pretty sweet, but evidently the Carioca Dog Lifestyle is even better!
